Speech Pathology is the diagnosis, management and treatment of individuals who are unable to communicate effectively or have difficulty feeding, drinking or swallowing. Speech pathologists are trained to assess and treat individuals who have a communication disability.
A speech pathologist will assess you or your child in their communication skills, along with feeding and swallowing. They will work with kindergartens, schools, hospitals and in private practice to provide natural therapy to assist in speech- language disabilities which could arise from a disability, injury or stroke. Communication disabilities are the result of problems with speech, using and understanding language, voice, fluency, hearing or reading and writing.
